Our team at R1Soft has released a new version of our wildly popular Server Backup Manager this week. So what's new?
Well, lets start with our approach. The R1Soft Team is continually looking to improve the product based on the feedback of our partners. We want to provide you with a backup system that is tailored to the needs of our hosting providers. We listen, we really do.
Here are the highlights of our release 5.12.0
As requested, we have simplified our Backup Policy interface with subtle but significant changes that ease the task of defining recovery point archiving. We have also updated the recovery point merge schedule with default settings that work for partners in practically all scenarios, leaving you with one less thing to consider.
SBM 5.12.0 provides internal updates to ensure seamless interoperability with all modern browsers. In addition to addressing the Logjam TLS protocol vulnerability we have strengthened our foundation for future updates. The Logjam attack allows a man-in-the-middle attacker to downgrade vulnerable connections, allowing the attacker to read and modify any data passed over the connection. The attack is due to a flaw in the TLS protocol rather than an implementation vulnerability. The attack affects any server that supports DHE_EXPORT ciphers, and affects all modern web browsers. With 8.4% of the Top 1 Million domains initially vulnerable, we instituted a fix. (learn more here: https://weakdh.org/)
Included in the 5.12.0 release are numerous engineering improvements focused on performance and bug fixes. Keeping backups simple, safe and humming along with great performance is what R1Soft is known for. Check out more: http://www.r1soft.com/whats-new.
