Our own VP of server backup David Wartell, sat down with blogger/podcaster Alan Shimel recently for a look back at 2012 and a look ahead in 2013 for the
backup market. David has been a leader in the backup market for many years now, so he brings a unique, qualified perspective to emerging trends in backup.
In this short 10 minute conversation David notes that 2012 was a year of disruption in the backup market. Virtualization has made, and continues to make a huge impact in the server market and translates into major changes in the backup server space. On top of this, the cloud and everything-as-a-service have also left their mark on backup. David thinks that going forward these trends will lead to even bigger changes in the market. Also Big Data trends have meant even more data for backup – Big Data will continue to have a huge influence in the market over the next months and years.
David believes that Idera has jumped out in front of these trends this past year. With the launch of Idera Server Backup, Idera is leading the way in meeting customer demands to price and model differently for virtual servers versus physical servers. As organizations demand cost-effective and efficient backup solutions to protect ALL their data, Idera forges forward with providing simple, easy to understand pricing that takes the sting out of pricking and choosing which data to backup. In fact David says that Idera’s mission for 2013 is to enable organizations to back up every single server in their environment without busting their budget.
