R1Soft will be attending World Hosting Days again for 2015!  This is one of the premier shows for the hosting industry, and as R1Soft is the industry's most trusted name for server backup, attending is a requirement that we absolutely love fulfilling every spring.

Each year this show gets bigger and better, with more than 6,000 attendees from around the globe, an ever-improving agenda, and cutting edge technology. WHD's annual event in Germany provides the opportunity to meet with industry leaders and provides a spring board to get ahead of your competition. If you're in the hosting industry and looking to establish a global presence, WHD.global is a must-attend.

Need more convincing? Here are a few reasons that we personally look forward to attending WHD.global each spring.

Brand Exposure

Speaking candidly, we all know trade shows are a great place to showcase and gain exposure for your company’s products. Whether you're an attendee that finds a few new products to try out or a sponsor that is looking for new prospects, the vendor hall can be a mutually beneficial place for everyone at this type of show.

We just love meeting and having conversations with people who we've never met before. As usual, we'll be demoing features of the newest version of Server Backup Manager (5.10.0), including improved filesystem support and enhanced policy scheduling. But, at a trade show we have the chance to further explain our offerings, and enable and engage in face-to-face communication with prospects and current partners.

At the same time, it's not all about our product - as enjoyable as it is to actually start a conversation and answer product questions face-to-face, in real time. It's also about checking out what other interesting companies are hanging around at the event. We always have a blast getting to know people at the other booths and discovering new products that are making a difference in this industry, or even seeing if there's a way for us to collaborate in some way with a company we've never worked with before.

Catching up with Partners

These shows are also an amazing opportunity to build on existing relationships that we've made over the last few years with our partners from all around Europe. It's a chance to catch up with our partners in person and get their feedback, and that is something that is invaluable.

Whether it's a discussion in our booth about an issue a partner experienced or a conversation at a restaurant about a family vacation they just went on, we always look to leave an event feeling like we know something new about each partner we saw. I personally had great experiences with local partners at HostingCon in Amsterdam last year, and I expect our group will have some more great experiences with our partners in Rust next week, as well.

Soaking in New Industry Trends

Industry events offer educational seminars and sessions for attendees. This is a great opportunity to take in some knowledge and also which sessions stood out more among the rest. What is sticking and what isn’t. You can take this back to your team to see if there are any helpful nuggets they can use to further improve and streamline your sales and product strategies.

Being present and exhibiting also allows you to see what is working and what isn’t, which direction your industry is going in (and isn’t).

  • Take the time to walk around, see what the other exhibitors are offering in terms of giveaways  and special deals
  • Take notes and learn from other exhibitors ( see which booths are generating the most traffic)
  • Informational handouts, what’s drawing people in? ( Live demo’s, data-sheets, etc)

Last year at cPanel's 'Hands on Houston' event there was a handful of takeaways. At HostingCon in Amsterdam there was one particular point that stood out above them all.

For this particular show, our new product manager, Ben Thomas, has a long list of sessions that he's interested in checking out. Whether you're attending or not, make sure to keep your eyes peeled for live updates from @R1Soft and a follow up post highlighting the biggest takeaways from this year's show.

Having a Good Time

When an event is held at an amusement park, it's hard to pretend that it's going to be all business all the time.

We are so excited to have a booth at World Hosting Days at Europa-Park. We are even more excited to re-connect with our current partners, and hopefully we’ll be lucky enough to bring on some new ones after the show. Between trying to listen in on sessions with Woz or Edward Snowden and grabbing drinks with old friends at Bar Colosseo, it's hard to think that the R1Soft team won't have a blast during this year's WHD.global festivities.

If you’re in Germany March 24th- 26th, come to WHD, grab a beer, and pop by our booth, # Z07, meet some of the team and see all that R1Soft has the offer in the world of server backup.
