Interested in migrating from Continuous Data Protection® (CDP) 2.0 to 3.0? Here are some tips and best practices from the Head Geek that will help you get the most out of your migration.
If you are interested in migrating from Continuous Data Protection® (CDP) 2.0 to 3.0, there are a few considerations to account for before making the move. While you should be aware of CDP 3.0’s numerous improvements and upgrades, you will also need a solid grasp of the preparation and installation process before making the move.
With its all-new Disk Safe® storage engine, CDP 3.0 offers an industrial strength design that is ready to withstand O/S crashes and power losses. Able to scale to up to 64 TB (128+ TB with compression) per file system protected, CDP 3.0 is even more resistant to file system fragmentation.
While installation may appear to be a matter of simply installing 3.0 Enterprise Edition’s CDP Server and migrating agents from 2.0 to 3.0, you will need to make some decisions on how to proceed: whether to use a separate dedicated server as recommended or, if you have enough resources, run both 2.0 and 3.0 on the same hardware.
