Linux CDP Enterprise Edition - Virtual Machine Support

R1Soft offers the only Continuous Data Protection® (CDP) solution for Windows and Linux Virtual Machines (VMs).  See the table below for Virtual Machine Software supported.

VMWare

R1Soft routinely uses VMWare ESX server to develop and Q/A its CDP software.  The R1Soft CDP Agent should be installed inside of each Virtual Machine you wish to provide Continuous Data Protection for.

  • Free VMWare Server
  • VMWare ESXi Server

Citrix XenServer

R1Soft is a Citrix technology partner and is committed to providing Continuous Data Protection for XenServer.  The CDP Agent should be installed into each Windows or Linux Xen domU you wish to provide Continuous Data Protection for.  XenServer with Paravirtualization is supported.

  • Citrix XenServer 4.0+*
  • Citrix XenServer 5.0+
  • Citrix XenServer 6.0+

XenSource

XenSource with Windows or Linux domUs and Paravirtualization is supported. The R1Soft CDP Agent should be installed inside of each Windows or Linux Xen domU you wish to provide Continuous Data Protection for.

Due to the nature of Linux XenSource installation most Xen domU kernels are custom compiled and the kernel headers required for device drivers are typically not available in the Xen domU by default. Installing the CDP Linux device driver can require assistance. Please contact technical support when installing the R1Soft Linux CDP Agent into a Xen domU.

Virtuozzo for Linux

R1Soft is a Parallels/SWSoft Gold Technology partner.  Virtuozzo containers on Linux are supported.

Due to the nature of Linux Virtuozzo containers they are not true virtual machines and do not have their own virtual disks.  Because of this the R1Soft CDP Linux Agent should be installed into the hardware node only.  Each container will appear simply as a directory in the hardware node file system.
