Supported Linux Distributions

R1Soft supports most all Linux Distributions running on 2.4 and 2.6 Linux Kernels.

The R1Soft Linux CDP Agent uses a proprietary R1Soft CDP device driver.  The only requirement is that loadable modules be enabled in your kernel so the device driver can be loaded at run time.  All popular Linux distributions by default can load modules and the R1Soft CDP device driver.

For the convenience of installation, R1Soft supplies 3,500+ 32-bit and 64-bit Binary compatible builds of its Continuous Data Protection device driver for popular 2.4 and 2.6 Linux kernels where available.

To check your kernel version for Binary compatibility see:
http://www.r1soft.com/distros/

If R1Soft does not have a Binary CDP driver build of your kernel that's OK!

  • All you need is your kernel source directory or header files.

  • R1Soft provides an installation tool (r1soft-cki) which assists in building R1Soft's CDP device driver form source!

  • This means you can use customized Linux kernels with R1Soft!  Most 2.4 and 2.6 Linux kernels with Module Loading Enabled are Supported.

  • If you are using a kernel supplied by your distribution (vendor) and R1Soft does Not have a Binary build for your kernel you simply need to install the kernel-src or kernel-devel RPM or .deb package for your kernel.
