Continuous Data Protection® Advanced Edition

Affordable High-Performance Disk-to-Disk Backup Software for Linux Servers

Continuous Data Protection® (CDP) Advanced Edition is high performance disk-based backup software for Linux servers. After completing one initial replica of all your desired data, CDP can complete virtual full Linux server backups in just minutes. Your data is protected at the block-level and unique disk blocks are stored only once across all recovery points, increasing the storage efficiency of your Linux backups.

CDP Advanced Edition for Linux Servers - Features

Today's mission critical Linux servers demand efficient backup software that reduces backup windows to minutes and replicates deltas efficiently at the block-level, impacting precious storage bandwidth as little as possible. CDP Advanced Edition delivers an affordable entry into high-performance Linux server backup that accomplishes all this and more. Use the scrollbar below to explore CDP Advanced Edition features.

High Performance Backup

After completing your initial replica CDP can reduce your backup windows from hours to minutes.  Improve recovery point objectives by replicating your data to disk-based archive storage up to every 15 minutes.  Reduce the impact of backups on server load.

Portable Backup Storage

With CDP Portable Disk Safe® technology your backups go wherever you need them to.  Move your Disk Safe to a new location, open with another CDP installation, take it with you, even copy it to a USB drive and put it in the car.

Bare-Metal Restore

Bare-Metal Restore is a high-performance alternative to file-by-file restore. By bypassing the file system and streaming blocks directly to disk, restores of large file systems can be performed significantly faster.

Point-in-time Snapshots

The R1Soft CDP Linux device filter driver takes a consistent point-in-time open file snapshot.  Say goodbye to inconsistent file backups.  Supports most any block device and works with your running kernel.  The only software of its kind for Linux.

Powerful File Excludes

With CDP technology you can browse your file system and select any combination of files and folders to be excluded from your data protection policy.  Add advanced excludes rules using patterns to exclude only certain file types.

Efficient Backup Storage

Virtual Full Backups mean unique disk blocks are only stored one time in your backup storage, even across thousands of recovery points.  Keep more recovery points longer and save space over your existing full or incremental backups.

Innovative Web Interface

In addition to the policy management and reporting you can browse, download, and restore files from your recovery points using an explorer style interface.  See detailed progress of replication and restore jobs as they run.

Industrial Strength Storage

CDP Disk Safe® technology is industrial strength disk storage for your backup and archiving.  Archive up to 64TB of recovery points per disk.  Atomic disk writes protect data from crashes and power loss.

Simultaneous Restores

Never wait for a restore job to begin again.  Restore even while your policy is replicating.  Perform multiple file restore jobs simultaneously.  Double-click and download archived files in your recovery points directly from the Web Interface.

Compression

R1Soft uses industry standard zlib for safe and reliable 2:1 compression.  Data is compressed at the block-level and only stored once until it changes or is no longer needed.

Data Retention Policy

Define a CDP replication goal for example: every 15 minutes, or every hour, or every 4 hours.  Then define how many recovery points you will retain.  Old recovery points are automatically merged and their storage is recycled.

Recovery Point Archiving

In addition to your regular backups, corporate and regulatory requirements often require the archiving of data at certain intervals (for example, monthly or annually).  Define an archiving policy for your recovery points to ensure your retention requirements are supported.
