R1Soft to Exhibit its Leading CDP Backup Software at Cloud Computing World Forum 2010

LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--R1Soft, the developer of Continuous Data Protection® (CDP) for Windows, Linux, and Virtual Machines, announced today it will exhibit its high-performance backup software at the 2nd Annual Cloud Computing World Forum to be held June 29 through July 1 at the Olympia Exhibition Centre in London.

With multiple operating systems all sharing the same physical disk resources while simultaneously pushing file counts across virtual machines into the millions, storage performance remains one of largest challenges for virtual machine administrators. Unable to keep up with the enormous growth in data size, typical backup applications that read and copy files often present a massive drain on the physical hardware slowing virtual machines down for hours during the backup process.

R1Soft’s CDP software can help ease the painful backup process. By reading data at the block-level, CDP bypasses the file system to gain unparalleled efficiency and performance.  In addition, it performs most backups using an asynchronous replication process it calls CDP.  Asynchronous replication uses device drivers to know before the backup process exactly which changed blocks or deltas must be read from disk.  This process has the result of shrinking most backup windows from hours to minutes while significantly reducing load on storage from the backup process.
